Travelling is passion with sacrifice

"Brother, why are you showing us that your life is better than us?" these are the lines of one of my facebook friend on my latest post about my travel.
So just after this I was like, Is it?? I am traveling a lot , exploring places and capturing moments. I am feeling like it's my job. Any traveller or wanderer who is going here and there, so it's not like they are on the vacation and they are getting a handsome amount to spend on their trips. Reality is very different. People who are working in corporate or anywhere , may be you always have work pressure and hectic schedule but at last you are getting a fix amount for your survival. A person who is not from a very rich family and have wanderlust, for them it's not that much simple. There is no sallery, no incentives and no security. Traveling is fun , yes but for those who meant for it. Do you remember your childhood or college days when you travelled somewhere? Do you remember those preparation, those bookings and all planning?? After that when you reached that place still you found there should be something more. Now let me tell you what is meaning of travelling like a backpacker?
There is no proper long planning, There is no previous bookings, No seats , mostly use of public transport crowded and dirty and you need to travel on that only because you don't have other options. Neither you have that much money nor you have time. I do remember lastly I visited a place in Uttar Pradesh (India) just before the festival of Holi. It was like impossible to enter the coach of train and I travelled in that. 14 hours ,was standing on a single place . Do you really think it was fun?? Obviously no, but still we do that if needed as we already decided to reach the place. Its like completing the target in corporate.
So you always need passion and enthusiasm either for your work or for your passion. Following your passion is even more difficult . A traveller travel not for money, not for fame but only for that passion .
I don't even have a job. I write, I click, I cover and I explore just because I love to do that.
"Passion is really important for your passion."

WALKING ON THE TRAIL ABOVE THE CLOUDS: BHRIGU LAKE TREK

It was a Friday morning when I was finally packing my bag once again. I was planning for the past few weeks but constantly failing. As It was monsoon so going to a trek or hills was not safe. Person who were truly caring didn't suggest me and even resist me to go there. I canceled some of my plans because of them. this was finally a trip on which I was going.
I am a backpacker type person  love to explore new places, meet new people and communicate with them. I don't want to stay at a place which is full of tourists . I like to go to some off beat places , away from the crowd and industrialization . So this time I choose "Bhrigu Lake Trek".
Bhrigu Lake is a trek in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu region. It is at 4400 meter or 14000 feet height, so quite cold. I searched about the trek, trails and other necessary things for this trip and leave my place at 7 pm on the same friday. I reached the Majnu Ka Tila , place in Delhi from where you can get the direct Bus for Manali. As I got some good offer on online booking so I booked AC bus otherwise mostly I travel through government buses. Trust me they are more trustworthy and safe. So as I said I booked AC private bus this time so it was very obvious. Bus started at 12 in the night. I thought its  okay will reach few hours later to Manali, but the height of frustration was that , bus reached Manali next evening 4 pm. Can you Imagine I spent 16 hours in the bus. My whole planning was faded away, as till this time I planned to reach the trail to Bhrigu or the Base Camp near Gulaba Village .
So in a hurry I did my shopping for food and some necessary stuff from Manali mall road and booked a taxi till Gulaba village , with the help of some local people. The taxi costed me 800 rupee after a lot of bargaining , which is our birth right in India. These 800 rupee was more than I spent on a 16 hour long journey from Delhi to Manali.
Now I was very late, as it was 6 in the evening and I have to reach the base for my tent setup before the sunset. I was searching for the trail on Manali-Leh Highway. after wandering here and there for 45 minutes I didn't find a single person who could help me. Sun was not in the sky only some lights were there, now I was in a dilemma whether I still search the base camp or find a place to set my only tent for tonight. At last I settled at a place in between the Jungle, above the Manali-Leh Highway and set my tent there. Night was dark and silent, only some sound of cricket, insects and drop of rain was audioable. Yes I was fearful , not of thieves but of some Animal or snake. I heard that there are some beers in the jungle, so it was hard to escape from the fear in my mind and heart. Some how I tried sleeping, My portable speaker helped me a lot to divert me from my fear. Generally I am a type of person who enjoyed these type of natural sound but that day I was trying not to hear them. I played some old Bollywood melodies and slept. I don't remember when I slept inside that cold, dark and scary tent.
It was 5:00 early in the morning, when automatically I woke up. Normally I always woke up late but that day had something for me. I just opened the zip of my tent and I was hypnotized for few minute. I can not forget that amazing morning view, those green hills upside filled with clean white snow. That slow rain made everything more beautiful and clearer. I came out of my tent , it was very cold outside but that landscape beauty was much more than that so I forgot that I even did not wear my shoe and was walking on the wet cold grass.
weather early in the morning outside my tent.

only my tent was there....

It took me 1 hour approx there to fold my tent and to fresh and get ready for the further trip. It was second day of my trip so today I had to cover the distance I did not last day because of bad schedule. I again started at 6:30 am and went back little down in the search of  the trail to Bhrigu Lake. after a 15 minute of searching , I saw a thin trail going upward , I was not confirm but I had no other choice to follow that only because no one was there at that time to guide me. That trail was very muddy and slippery because of the continuous rain all the night. I was trying for some footprints at least , sudden I found but it was foot prints of some Horse or Mules. In Himachal and Uttarakhand villagers generally use Horse and Mules as a carrier for their daily things and woods. So I thought may be I'll reach some village soon and they will help me for the right trail.
It was only ten minute trek I completed and I felt that I am feeling uncomfortable in breathing and tired. It was a straight height and I was not used to of that so it was normal. The one major reason for this was my trek bag which was approx 25-28 Kg heavy. I stayed at a place , looked the height , settled my trek bag and started again. Here I was quite lucky as I was expecting some village but I reached the base camp of Bhrigu. There were some other tents too so I went to those people. That was a proper travel and trek company. I met their trek leader and asked him about the way to Lake . He told me I am on the right trek, and just have to follow the trail. I did not wait and stared trekking again.
On the trek towards the Bhrigu Lake.

In the starting 2 or 2 and half hour, the trek was in between the high trees or Jungle. After that there were no trees but only Meadows and high mountains in front of you. I was walking slowly in starting but after few hour of trek, my speed was quite good . I was following the trail and leaving behind the jungle and meadows. After a point I reached a place where I found beautiful green view till the end my eyes can watch. It was raining again so I wore my poncho or rain coat to prevent myself and specially my bag.

All green and beautiful followed by clouds in front of me.

Now I was enjoying it a lot and every thing seems me very attractive and peaceful. Even the rain drops touches my head and face was like giving me more adventure. It was 5 hours approx and I completed more than half of the trek. Now as I was feeling the cold air, the rain drops and that breeze sound , I reached the last base camp of Bhrigu Lake Trek . It was the Rola Kholi Camp Site, approx 11,400 feet above. Every trekker who came for Bhrigu lake, settled their tent here and following the rest trek after taking some rest here. So I searched a place for my tent and soon I made it. There were already some tents of the trek company people.
I met three people in between the trek , they were also coming for the same so we completed our rest trek together. They also settled their tent near mine and we had a Lunch there. We were very hungry and dying for some "real-food" as on the whole trek we ate only biscuits and chocolates. At Rola Kholi , there was a small shop by some local people who came up during the trekking season for some earnings. They provide the Rice, Dal , Kadhi, Maggi and tea at that height to the trekkers. That Dal Rice was more than any of the delicious food I have ever tasted. I was very tired too so did not eat much but had two cup of tea. After the lunch I rested for one hour there and planning for the rest.

Tent settled at Rola Kholi Camp Site.

Dal-Rice at 11,400 feet approx and Trekking Company tents.

Now its 1:30 pm and I decided to complete the remaining trek. I had two options , one is to complete the trek and came back to this camp site and other was to going down from other side via Vashishth. Weather was not good and also I came to this trek for the first time. I discussed with those local shop people, even they told me not to go from another side as it was continuous raining and that decline was much to straight and not safe this time. As already my this trek was "very adventurous" , I did not find the trail and base camp on the first day so I was not ready for more. I agreed to return to this same camp site and will back from the same trail.
Beautiful Mountain and Clouds in between

Shop of Local Himachal people at Rola Kholi

I started the rest of the trek with my those travel companion. After that rest and lunch I was feeling comfortable as I left my heavy trek bag in the tent. we all were going fast as Bhrigu Lake was approx 2 hour away and we need to back to camp site before the sun set. We were going straight and now following some stone sign made my other trekkers who went before on the same trail.
Now It was one and half hour already and still there were no sign of Bhrigu Lake. I was very tired as I traveled much extra to reached the first base camp site and then continuously I was on the trek. After one more hour after crossing three high mountains , some how we reached the place. We all were very tired and it was 5 in the evening. Sudden weather was changing dramatically and there were a lot of clouds around us. It was very hard to see each other ever after 10 meter away only.
We were stepping down fast and looked at the mobile watch after every 10 minute. It became more cold and dark sudden. After 45 minutes of decline we all were stop at a place and looked at each other. We were not saying anything but we all knew that we are "lost".
It was something I was not prepared for. Alone I was more active and watched the trails and places but with other people I was carefree too. Now we were discussing what to do. I suggested strongly that we should reach the camp site as staying here not an option. Soon cold will increase and we don't have our sleeping bags and other stuff to protect us. There is no hard and fast rules of mountains for their weather. " Mountain make their weather themselves. " It will worst in night so we should try much harder for camp site.
After half and hour of hustle and bustle , we found a trail going downward. We started following that trail with a lot of confusion but just after 15 minute of decline all confusion escaped as we found some familiar stone mark which one of my companion made during the trek. After 20 minutes, our tents were visible from that great height. We were very much away but that tents visibility gave all of us a great relief and happiness.
Soon I reached the camp site and went to that local people shop and asked for Tea and Maggi.

Camp site from a great height

Stone marks made by Trekkers

After reaching the camp site , it was a great feeling and inside satisfaction of achieving something. One more trek added in my trekking list. I was feeling like winning some of my Table Tennis match. That night I ate some dal, kadhi-Rice and went early to sleep in my tent. I was so tired so I thought I can sleep more easily. I was wrong, I did not sleep for the whole night and again I was listening those sound of insects, breeze and rain drops. Now these sounds were no more scary and I did not use my speaker to escape from them. I was enjoying those sound now.
Next day early in the morning again I packed my tent and other stuff, had tea and maggi and started decline for Gulaba camp site. Now I was more confident and aware of the trail and going down was not difficult as was during the trek.
Ready for going back from Rola Kholi to Gulaba.

Going back from the trek on the same trails.

It took me 4 and half hour approx to reached the starting point of the trek. I made some signs there at starting point so that some other trekker find the trail easily. Other of my Travel Companion were looking for some Taxi, I decided to ask for lift till Manali. Me and one of my Friend stayed and other left after exchanging the phone number and promised to go for some together in future. They made the trek more awesome and adventurous.
After few minutes me and my friend got lift from a Uncle going towards Kullu. He was very kind and gave us lift without asking anything till Manali.
We reached Manali at 3 pm , after that we went to Mall road and then to Vashishth and explored that place. We booked our bus ( AC bus again) but just before two hours we notified that our bus is cancelled. Again, why I trust government buses more. My friend decided to go by another Volvo or AC bus as he had his office next day. He got a ticket in Volvo said bye to me. I was wandering here and there on Mall road of Manali as I was not in a hurry.
I took normal bus towards the Kashmiri gate - Delhi at 7 pm and reached next day early in the morning at 7 am.
It was a great experience and awesome feeling now after completing a trek of 14000 feet or 4500 meter approx. When I am writing all this I can again feel all those views , that weather and coldness etc. It is a beautiful place to visit .. a must go place for travel and trek lovers.

Roads are adventurous too: A trip to Rajasthan-1

Traveling to a new place is always exciting but traveling to a place in a new way is adventurous too. This time it was a Road Trip to Rajasthan. As Rajasthan is very large I decided to make it in parts. This time its about exploring the Bikaner and nearby area on a bike.

Bike Ride starts from Delhi. There are various way to reach Bikaner by bike so here is one of the route which give you a better experience of bike ride or a road trip.
Ride towards Gurugram then Rewari, but before that I decided to have a fantastic breakfast at old rao hotel on the highway. The best part of that Dhaba is the "quantity of Chai" and the real butter with Paratha which we easily dont get in the metro city. The best time to start trip is early in the morning so that weather will be better and gives a awesome experience. Distance between Delhi to Bikaner is approx 460 km. so it will take approximately 8 hours to reach there . Narnaul,Chirawa,Mandawa Fatehpur and Ratangarh . This is one of the best route for road trip to bikaner.
In between this road trip one should take 4-5 stops to get body relax and mind fresh, which was also the small snacks and desi dish try time for me. There are lots of 'Dhabas' in between the route where one can stop and enjoy the tea and snacks. finally after covering the distance of 500 km I reached to Bikaner.
There are various places in Rajasthan where you can see the culture and heritage , one of them is Bikaner. Bikaner is a city with east of the border with Pakistan. It's surrounded by the Thar Desert. The city is known for the 16th-century Junagarh Fort, a huge complex of ornate buildings and halls. There are various things to do and places to visit in Bikaner which will give you an amazing experience of Rajasthan's Culture and mirror to the heritage. Bikaner has so many hotels, Deserts area and Religious places to fulfill the once requirements.

Places To Visit In Bikaner And Nearby Area :

I tried to make a list of some of the best places in and near to Bikaner which are the combination of everything a traveler needs.

1. JUNAGARH FORT

Junagarh fort is one of the most famous place and the identity of the city. This fort was built between 1589 to 1593 by Raja Rai Singh, Ruler of Bikaner. This fort is the reflection of 16th Century and a connection between modern and Heritage. The Museum inside the fort is worth watching .
The entry charge for the Junagarh fort is 50/- Indian rupees , its a private property still but open for public visit.

2. LAXMI NIWAS PALACE & LALGARH FORT

Laxmi niwas and Lalgarh palace is a place for luxurious stay experience. Lalgarh palace built for Sir Ganga singh, Maharaja of Bikaner , between 1902 to 1926. These places are the best for comfortable Family vacation and to experience Rajasthan's culture in luxurious way.

3. DEVI KUND SAGAR

Devi kund or Devikund sagar is located at 8 km distance from the Bikaner city. Devikund is known for the beautiful "Chattris" made by white marbels and red sand stone. There is also a pond near Devikund sagar which is full of lotus. Its a beautiful and peaceful place where you can spend  time with friends and Family or you can sit alone for hours without any distraction, just the sound of wind.

4. DESHNOKE KARNI MATA TEMPLE

Karni mata temple at Deshnoke is a Hindu temple and is very popular in country as well as in foreign. It is approx 30 km from the Bikaner city. The main reason for this fame is the Rats inside the temple. there are thousands of Rats in the temple so this temple is also known as 'The Rat Temple'.

5. DESERT LADERA VILLEGE

Ladera villege is 30 km from Bikaner city. If you are in somewhere in Rajasthan then Deserts are the most important part which gives you real feeling to be in the Rajasthan . So I decided to explore the desert nearby also. Ladera Villege will give you real pleasure of Desert and Desert safari.

Things to remember during bike Road Trip:-
1. Service your bike before the road trip.
2. Try to start the trip early in the morning.
3. Have some water bottle fill with drinking water.
4. Don't ride too fast, always enjoy your ride.
5. Don't take heavy bags with you, if required fix career with your bike on very long trips.
6. Wear comfortable clothes during bike trip, not so tight.
7. Seat of you bike should be comfortable otherwise all your way you'll feel uncomfortable.

So it was a different experience to be there . Over all riding on the highways on those roads will fill you with some energy . It is a must go road trip for travel lovers and bikers.

How to plan an Unplanned trip :Dharamshala-Mcleodganj

Are you a backpacker ? Do you also love traveling? If your answer is yes then of course I'll tell you about my recent travel experience . It was an unplanned , sudden trip. Decision was taken with in 30 minutes, and with in 2 hours I left my place towards bus terminal.
So, recently I visited some places in Himachal Pradesh . I will try to explain you everything related to trip which gives you information about the place , eternity and budget.
Budget is one of the biggest factor which resist us so many times for taking new experience . So always start your travelling by saving as much as you can. Like I started my journey by taking local DTC bus to reach Kashmiri Gate ISBT to take the bus for Himachal. There is no need of auto or cab for such a places which are well connected by public transport.
So let me tell you about my experience. Firstly I was confused about the destinations as there are so many beautiful places in Himachal but I wanted to go somewhere I can experience more things at one place. I took bus for Chandigarh first which is easily available any time from Kashmiri Gate. I took my bus at 2:00 a.m. and reached Chandigarh at 7 in the morning. I thought why not to explore Chandigarh also, so I went towards city bus. I asked for a one day bus pass which is of 40/- rs only by which you can travel in any bus and any place whole day. You just need to ask local people about the bus route and bus number. I decided to visit three places there. First I went to Mansa Devi Temple after that Rock garden (Sukhna lake is also near by) and at last to sector 17 market . Whole day I explored Chandigarh and at last I went to sector 43 bus stop for the Himachal bus.
OLD MAN TRYING TO WARM HIMSELF OUT SIDE THE MANSA DEVI TEMPLE

Again I took bus from Chandigarh to Dharmshala at 12 in night. After whole night journey, I reached Dharamshala 7 in the morning. It was a beautiful cold morning.  Temperature was 3-4 degree that time. All around beautiful mountains full of snow . I was very excited so after tea and breakfast at Dharamshala Bus Stop I talked with some local people and tried to find out about the places to visit. My budget was not so high so First I moved towards the market area. Normally market starts in Dharmshala at 10 am . There were a lot of colorful shops , food joints and Tibetan shops. I first started searching a room which could be cheap and best. So there in Dharmshala you will easily find a hotel in 500-600 with double bed and  TV (which is not useful in such beautiful places).
After that I started exploring Dharmshala. In Dharmshala most of the places you can visit by buses (ticket price is in between 3rs. to 15 rs. ) or you can go by foot also if you love long walks in between the nature. You'll taste a lot of traditional and local dishes here.  There were 3-4 places to visit in Dharmshala like World's highest Cricket Ground, Saheed smarak, Bhagshu water fall and lake. You will also love to explore the local market area there.
                                             A Picture from SHAHEED SMARAK

Highest Cricket Stadium in the World

Next day I started my day towards the Mcleodganj which is 6-7 km only from Dharmshala. In Mcleodganj there were also a beautiful market where a lot of tourist you'll find easily. From Mclodganj I visited Famous Old Church, Indrunag Temple(Very offbeat) and Dharamkot (full of snow in winters).

                                                      Dharamkot in Winter Season
Dharamkot is base of the Triund Trek so if you wanna do trekking you'll start from there. Triund is 7-8 km long beautiful trek.  December to February normally trek is close due to heavy snow fall. If you are lucky ,You'll find snow there in Dharmkot easily everywhere.
Dharmshala-Mcleodganj trip is of two days (without trekking ) which will give you a beautiful lifetime experience and memories.
Things To Remember And Apply:-
1. Always travel by government roadways buses.
2. Don't go to the places which are not safe during winters.
3. Don't go to high places for snow and pictures if the weather and time is not good .
4. Always try to travel at night so that you can start exploring from the early in the morning and use the maximum time.
5. Always go with proper equipments and useful things like umbrella, torch, raincoat and thermal jackets and inners.
6. Take information from 3-4 local people.

So, it's the time you can also make some plan without deep planning and visit Dharmshala and Mcleodganj with your friends or alone too.

I selected this place because during my previous trip I left this place. So now I wanted to complete that incomplete trip.
I'll also tell you how to reach Kheerganga and what to do there..!!
If you are going to start your trip from Delhi then you can take direct bus towards Bhunter, a place in Kullu district (H.P.)
Bhunter is known as it is the nearest airport of so many famous places like Kasol, Manikaran and Manali.
To reach Bhunter , Bus will take approx 8-9 hours. From Bhunter you have to take another Bus or taxi towards Kasol, Manikaran. For Kheerganga, you have to reach Manikaran. Manikaran is holy place and one of the most famous place of Sikhh religion. It'll take 1 and half hour approx to reach Manikaran from Bhunter.  Another Bus you'll get towards Barsaini, which is half an hour away from Manikaran. Barsaini is the starting point of Kheerganga trekk .
Your journey towards another beautiful world will start from there. trek is approximately 12-13 k.m. long and beautiful. You'll get small but beautiful Dhabas in between your destination. So many waterfalls and amazing sights you'll see during your trekking.
After 3-4 hours of trekking (time vary person to person depends on speed and stay in between) you'll reach kheerganga : another beautiful world.
On the top you will get some tent and natural stay places , where you can stay at night and enjoy the fun of camping.
Kheerganga is also a holy place where you'll get a source of hot water. You should take a bath in that hot water by which all your tiredness disappear .
People visits Kheerganga for the adventure of trekking. beautiful sights , nature's lap, fun in the camp and amazing foods.

Himachal Diaries

Two days before, started an unplanned trip. Didn't planned for any destination, just packed the bag and picked Camera. We left my place and reached kashmiri gate ISBT, New Delhi at 11 in the night. First Bus we took for Chandigarh.. Still no destination were in mind. After reaching Chandigarh, A Bus were going towards Reckong peo (HP). We caught that Bus and reached Shimla. After spending 3-4 hours in Shimla, decided to go somewhere else then we went to kasauli hills. After that took a view of green valley.
It was an amazing thing to do whatever you don't know. So we just going and going.
After green valley we went to Kufri snow point, when every one was busy with riding the 'khachchar' , we went to the nearest forest for more exploration. Properly explored the forest then we went to the more height. There were a village named Fagu. Small village with amazing weather and views. There were feeling of peace and internal satisfaction. It's not the end, from there we went back to Shimla, went to Shimla new Bus stop and searched for new destination. After two hour of discussion , we decided for trekking. So I remember about my last Kasol trip with my friends , there we left a place 'Kheerganga'. We desperately wanted to go there but that time we went to Manali. So I wanted to complete that incomplete trip. Took a bus from there for Kullu, and now we reached Bhuntur. Its  heavy raining, 3:00 am and no one is here. Trip must go on.. So we'll go to Manikaran But not a single person or Bus is here so waiting inside a closed shop shed. One local person told that this rain will be like this for next two days. I am here so surely we'll go to Manikaran and do trekking for Kheerganga, if rain will be slow or stop.
Right now wearing all my clothes but still we are freezing. We covered 1000 km , Didn't slept for last three days, no hotel booked .. Only travelling. One trip after  another and still it is going on.......
